A New Notebook

A pretty new notebook for my words to be captured
And my mind to get lost in a sea of images
To create a window into my heart
Who knows, some poems will be dated and signed
Some will have titles
Many will not
Yet they will capture thought upon thought upon thought
Not all poems and prose
A book of writings to accept wherever my thoughtfulness goes
Or maybe it's just thoughts without the thoughtfulness
An essay loaded with lows
Spelling mistakes and messy
A free-for-all when the pen hits the page
A place to record whatever must be written down
A sentence, a word
A list or a plan
A goal or a pondering of the soul
Sometimes deep, sometimes shallow
Sometimes well written, others not
Every word easily legible and understandable
I sure hope not
A boring book it shall not be, that I assure you
A secret most likely kept from strangers' eyes
Yet, would it bug me if someone chose to read it like a book
To start from the beginning, or just give it a quick look
A browse? Or maybe a peruse?
What are you chasing? What have you found? What have you got to lose?
Is there someone you just love to be around?
Who in your life, if they died tomorrow, do you wish you'd been more around?
Live your life to the fullest
And give them a ring
By a ring, I meant a call
But if it's the one you're meant to marry, then by all means, do more than just call
Propose, and then there shall be a marriage after all
But don't get swept away by an ideal
Because life is not a fairytale
So be mindful of what you know to be true and try the best you can do
But just know at the end if you don't choose Him
Then know, life chose you
And you will reap the reward of what you sow
So sow a garden you'd be proud to pick flowers from
And boast in the gardener who planted them all
You must know that your flowers are as pretty as can be
Without the gardener, they'd be nothing, you see
Because nothing on this earth is for free
To have true freedom
You must give Him everything
And now it's time to bring these thoughts to a close
To close this book, just as my eyes are choosing to do
I'm ready to sleep
And next time, not so late
Goodnight, and may your dreams tonight remind you that life is finite
